What is Counselling?
💬 Counselling is a meeting that happens at the same time every week. I work in school term time only.
💻 Sessions take place online and last 50 minutes. You'll be in a private space, where you can't be overheard, and so will I.
🫱🏻🫲🏾 At the heart of our work is building a trusted relationship, with time taken to help you feel safe, accepted and understood.
🧱 In the first session, we will spend time getting to know each other and I will invite you to think about why you want counselling. You can share as much or as little information as you like.
👋🏻 Each week, we might check in about how you are, how your week has been or what feels most important to talk about that day. We build the sessions based on what is happening for you, so each week might be different.
💭 You decide what we focus on. You can plan what you want to talk about, or you can say "I don't really know what I want to talk about today" and we can figure it out together.
🎨 Sessions don't have to be all talking. We might use creative activities or other tools to help you express yourself if this feels useful to you. You always have choices in our sessions, so it's ok to say no if something doesn't feel right.
🌊 If things feel overwhelming, we can slow down, pause, or change what we're doing.
🌱 Over time, counselling can help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, understand how your brain works, and develop tools that support you in everyday life.
🌈 Most importantly, counselling is a space where you are listened to, respected, and accepted as you are.
